HUNTER MOUNTAIN PROJECT
Project Description and Purpose:
Part of a complete cattle-watering system, our project supplements an existing spring box and gravity fed pipeline system. The spring box is located about ¼ mile “up-stream” from an existing well. The existing well is where the supplementary source of water will be pumped. The installation will power a DC submersible pump located in the well and a DC pressure pump located on a lateral to the main water line. The two pumps will be directly powered by a 300-watt photovoltaic solar array mounted on a steel pole near the well. The submersible pump will pump water into an in-ground water storage tank. The pressure pump will pump water from storage to the main line @ 30 psi. Float switches will control the pumps. The system will monitor electric load via the Internet with the Watchman to ensure functioning. Ultimately this project will extend winter watering for the Hunter Ranch Herd and keep flow in the main line to prevent freezing.
